About Wellspring: What's In Our Name?

A wellspring is literally the water source of a stream or spring. Figuratively speaking, a wellspring is a source of abundant and continual supply. Spiritually speaking, the Wellspring is Jesus Christ himself. Our name Wellspring has a connection to the location of our building. On Schantz Road, about one quarter mile from our building, is "Schantz Spring Reservoir." Just as this reservoir provides physical water for the people of our community, we seek to be a congregation through whom God's Wellspring — His spiritual provision — can flow to the people of our community and our world. Jesus Christ Himself is our Wellspring, our source of abundant and continual supply. The natural water from Schantz Spring Reservoir only satisfies for the moment, but the spiritual water that Jesus provides not only gives permanent satisfaction, but also becomes a means of God's supply for others. As Jesus says to the woman at the well in John 4:13-14, "Everyone who drinks of this water will thirst again; but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water spring ing up to eternal life." Our goal is to regularly drink of the spiritual water from Jesus our Wellspring, so we can become a means of God's supply for others.
